Fishing

As our jetty is available exclusively to your group, you are not likely to get into conflict with any swimmers. There is a large stainless steel sink at the back of the cabin where you can gut and prepare the fish. If you make a good catch, you can store it in the freezer (98 litre, 4 trays) in the kitchen. There is a bike store where you can stash your equipment. You can also use our rowing boat for fishing trips. Further rowing boats are available for hire from Bootsverleih Domenig, located some 850 m from the property. You will need to purchase a fishing permit from the Weissensee tourist office.

Vehicles

Our carport accommodates two cars. Further parking spaces are available directly in front of the carport or across the road on the lakeside plot.

In winter the parking area is cleared by a tractor in the event of heavy snowfall. But the removal of ice and smoothness on the parking area as well as snow removal from sidewalks is the responsibility of the guests. Of course, road salt and a shovel are available in the garage.

Swimming

The lakeside plot with its meadow, jetty, lake access and lakeside cabin is available for your exclusive use.

Boat & Ship

You can use our rowing boat and two canoes at no charge. For further boats: The next boat hire place “Bootsverleih Domenig” is only 850 meters away at Neusach 30. This is close to the area called Mühlzipf, i.e. reached going east.

The nearest docking station for the ships of Lake Weissensee pleasure cruise companies is only 100 metres away. The ships of both companies dock there 11 times day in high season and 7 times a day in low season heading either towards the bridge or towards the eastern shore.

Ice skating

Next to the coat rack, there is a separate room with shoe dryers, where you can also leave your winter clothing. Visitors take to the ice at their own risk. Please take note of the latest information from the Weissensee tourist office.

BIKE RENTAL

The nearest bike rental is located near the bridge: The store “Intersport Alpensport” in Techendorf 15, that´s 1.4 km from Im Franzerl.

BREAKFAST

If you order it, the baker will bring you fresh bread right in front of the house daily. Please ask us on your arrival. The village bakery and pastry Holzer is located in Gatschach 30, that´s 2.2 km away.

If you want catering, we would be happy to recommend catering providers from the neighborhood. Please aks us when you make your booking.

Children

Two of the bedrooms can be connected directly to each other. In two other bedrooms, you can find a pull-out couch, which we can prepare for your children. If you need a crib or a high chair, please let us know. The house is surrounded by a fence so infants can not run away so easily.

Please note, however, that we do not currently have any special facilities for kids in the Franzerl, such as a swing or sandbox. The jetty is unfortunately not suitable for running around for small children, they could fall into the water.

Cooking

The kitchen is fully equipped. On the terrace you will find an electric grill.

If you would like to be cooked for in the house, we have a tip for private cooking for you.

Foods

Basics like salt, pepper, vinegar, oil and sugar are in the kitchen. And for the first hunger after a possible late arrival you can also find noodles and sugo.

The nearest supermarket is in the center of Techendorf opposite the bridge: SPAR Markt Knaller. This is only 1.4 km away. If you order it, the baker will bring you fresh bread daily. Please ask us on your arrival. The village bakery and pastry Holzer is located in Gatschach 30, that´s 2.2 km away.

If you hear a ring in the afternoon in July or August, then the baker drives along the lake and sells cakes and pies, perfect for your coffee at the lake!

MOUNTAIN BIKING

There is a lockable bike store available for your bikes. There are also sockets to charge up e-bikes. Right next to the house, there is a paved area and a water hose for washing your bikes. Two large mountain bike trails lead only a few hundred meters at Franzerl.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The “”nature park bus”” or ski bus stops 50 meters away in front of the Hotel Gralhof. In the main season at half-hourly intervals, it drives you along the lake and, of course, to the mountain railway. As a guest of Im Franzerl you can use this bus for free, in summer as well as in winter.

For your arrival and departure, also the shuttle service to / from Greifenburg railway station is free, from May to mid-October and mid-December to early March, registration by 18 clock the day before required.

Restaurants

The nearest restaurants within walking distance around Im Franzerl are:

• “Das Löwenzahn”, 750 meters away
• “Biohotel Gralhof” target=”_blank”, 50 meters away, only in the evening on reservation, limited capacity
• Restaurant at “Hotel Weissenseerhof & Bistro am Wasser” , 500 meters away

In all three restaurants, especially in the high season, a reservation is strongly recommended. 2 km further, especially in Techendorf and Gatschach are more restaurants. Here you will find a complete list including opening times of all restaurants in Weissensee.

Sauna & Relaxations

In the wellness area you will find the sauna, infrared cabin, showers and bathtub. Sauna oils, sauna towels and bathrobes are provided, as well as some tea and coffee.

Skiing

Behind the carport you will find plenty of space in the lockable ski-room for your equipment. In the house there is a separate room with ski boot dryer and to store your ski clothing. The ski bus stops 50 meters away in front of the Hotel Gralhof, at half-hourly intervals in the main hours. It will take you to the Weissensee cable car, just 2 km away. As a guest of Im Franzerl you can use this bus for free. By the way: Carinthia’s largest ski area Nassfeld, right on the border with Italy, is 33 km away, with a ski bus connection twice a day.

Hiking

Right next to the house there begins the hiking trail to the pasture “Alm hinter´m Brunn” – see the signpost at the neighboring house to the east. After about 1 ½ hours you reach the idyllic pasture, open from mid-May to mid-October.

Along the lake and on the mountains around the lake you will find many more hiking destinations, dreamy places and quiet pastures. Also helpful is the Weissensee boat trip and the Weissensee mountain railway. Further information about hiking …
