Ice skating on Lake Weissensee
Staying together at the Franzerl
Ice skating groups from 6 to 14 people will find the Franzerl the ideal place to stay. Everybody together in an exclusive holiday home by the lake!
Lake Weissensee is the largest natural body of water that regularly freezes over in winter and is managed for ice skating etc. From the end of December to the end of February, delighted ice sports enthusiasts and leisure skaters enjoy themselves on the lake. Ice skating tracks of up to 25 km length, curling rinks, ice hockey rinks and a 400 m track for speed skaters are created and maintained. The annual highlight is an event forming part of the Alternative Dutch Eleven Cities Tour at the end of January, where some 3,000 participants race over distances of 100 or 200 km across the frozen lake.

Day visitors have to pay a fee to go on the ice and use the managed spaces. For people staying at the Franzerl, going onto the ice is, of course, free of charge.
There are some local ice skating schools where visitors can learn to enjoy safe skating on natural ice. Experienced ice skaters too can use the services of ice skating instructors to improve their technique. There is also an equipment hire shop locally.
In the Franzerl, you will find a separate room next to the coat rack where you can dry your footwear and leave your winter clothing.
